Celebrating the Holidays!

For Christmas, the Griess family was all over the map! We started out spending five days in Chicago with my family. A nice surprise was that my grandma Betty was able to fly to Chicago from Florida to spend some time with us and meet Payton. We had a great time, and were able to see a bunch of friends and family, and Payton got a suitcase full of toys and clothes!

After Chicago, we flew back home (yes, it was Payton's first flight!) and spent two days back in Des Moines before we had to pack back up and head to Lincoln to see Halley's family. We had a great time getting snowed in with his aunts, uncle, and cousin - but were ready to break free once the roads and snow drifts were finally clear!

Like every year, right after Christmas, Halley and I went to our annual Church Conference, Faithwalkers, which was held in Omaha, NE this year. It was such a blessing to have it so close to us and not have to drive 6 hours to the Ozarks (although the scenery and weather were greatly missed by everyone). Halley and I were greatly encouraged during this time, where we were able to listen to many speakers who were filled with great wisdom and knowledge. It was a little bit more challenging for me to pay attention this year, since Payton was with me, but I was able to get in almost every session and seminar, so that was great.

All in all, our Holiday season was filled with tons of traveling, and lots of family. It was great to see everyone, but we are all ready to be in Des Moines for a bit now and enjoy our own home and our own beds!

Payton will be two months tomorrow, January 14, 2010, and we are going in for her two month appointment, where she will get 4 shots! I don't think I am ready for that, and I might have to leave the room! But she is such a great baby, and so far extremely healthy. We are all blessed with our health this new year and with our great baby girl!
