Thursday, July 1, Halley surprised Payton and I with a fun filled evening of the Des Moines Symphony and Fireworks downtown. It was the best family time I can ever remember us having! Payton was a perfect baby - never cried, enjoyed the fireworks, and stayed out till 10:15 with no napping! She was so excited to see all the people, and to be with her mom and dad!
We packed a cooler with sandwiches and water, and hit the road! We arrived around 7 PM, and walked to the capital where they had the DSM Symphony playing. It was a great picnic dinner, and we even got a delicious strawberry smoothie - what a splurge!
After we ate and walked around a bit, we headed back towards the river where the fireworks would be. Halley found the perfect spot for us to watch them at the new walkway that the city just opened this week.
